4 Indigenous-Owned Washington Dispensaries to Support This Holiday Season

Whether you’re building a well-thought out care package or scrambling for a last minute holiday gift, weed is always a good option. If you’re looking to support small local businesses with your shopping this season, consider stocking up at an Indigenous owned dispensary.

Washington State is home to many dispensaries owned by Indigenous tribes because of state-tribal marijuana compacts which allow for the production, purchase, and sale of cannabis products on tribal land.

Here are a few Indigenous-owned dispensaries to visit this holiday season:

Joint Rivers, Muckleshoot

Owned and operated by the Muckleshoot Tribe in present-day Auburn, Washington, Joint Rivers is a great option for cannabis gifts this season. A cozy shop with kind staff, Joint Rivers offers a wide selection of quality products and plenty of discounts and deals for their customers, including 20% off on Mary Jane Mondays. Products purchased between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday through Friday also get a 20% discount, so it may be worth getting an early start to your shopping spree.

Fireweed Cannabis, Snoqualmie

The Snoqualmie Indian Tribe recently opened its first cannabis business, Fireweed, in Snoqualmie, Washington. Located next to the casino, Fireweed hosts frequent vendor days for customers to check out and learn more about local brands. At the time of its opening, Fireweed employed Snoqualmie Tribe members, as well as members of the Hopi Nation and the Coeur d’Alene/Schitsu’umsh. Along with in-store deals and discounts, the store also sells a solid selection of cannabis accessories.

Commencement Bay, Puyallup

With multiple locations spanning across Puyallup Tribal land, Commencement Bay is another great place to shop for holiday gifts this season. Owned and operated by the Puyallup Tribe, Commencement Bay locations are beautifully decorated with cultural pieces and stocked with a huge variety of cannabis products.

Fun side note: Cheech and Chong came out to celebrate the opening of Commencement Bay’s second location several years ago.

Remedy, Tulalip

A cozy shop with lots on display to admire, Remedy is another wonderful Indigenous-owned cannabis dispensary to shop at this holiday season. Owned by the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, this shop has a great loyalty rewards system and even better selection of products. The store priorities partnerships with emerging and affiliated Native American cannabis brands, minority-owned brands, and the best quality brands across Washington.
